Dr. Rebecca Chippior graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry on the Dean's Honours List following the completion of her Honours Bachelor of Science degree. In her externship year she participated in a volunteer eye care mission in Mexico, trained in a private practice in Boston, MA and completed an ocular disease rotation in Mobile, AL. In school she was very involved in extra curricular activities including being President of UWOSS (University of Waterloo Student Society); she received the Canadian Association of Optometrists Award of Merit and was valedictorian of her graduating class.
Dr. Chippior is an examiner for the Optometry Examining Board of Canada. She is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 406 in Barry's Bay, ON. In fall 2017 Dr. Chippior was awarded the Medium Business of the Year award by the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Chippior has been working at St. Lawrence Optometry her whole career and took over ownership of St. Lawrence Optometry in 2013 from her parents-in-law Drs. Paul & Sharon McCreery. In 2014 St. Lawrence Optometry East opened its doors, spearheaded by Dr. Chippior's husband. Having grown up in the Ottawa Valley she now considers Kingston home; her favourite local businesses are Flavours of India and Glenburnie Grocery. In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening, yoga, traveling the world and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Chippior and her husband welcomed their daughter Isla in the summer of 2017; she is currently on maternity leave.
